The Learning Hub

Preprimary Curriculum Overview

In this institution we embrace the EYFS Curriculum together with the Kenyan Curriculum CBC In our Early Years classes to be able to achieve the best out of our young children’s foundation in Education.
The EYFS Curriculum has seven areas of learning that we merge with the areas of learning in CBC.

CBC Areas of Learning are :Language, Mathematics, Environmental, Religion, Physical Education, Creative Arts and Music.
The Pre-Primary Curriculum is organized into Seven Learning Areas: Language Activities, Phonics which is Literacy, Mathematics Activities, Environmental Activities, Creative Arts Activities, Religion Activities and Music Activities (Personal, social & Emotional Development)
All these learning Areas help to provide a comprehensive learning experience to the learner hence a stable foundation for the child’s learning journey.

KICD Guidelines

Our Pre-Primary curriculum at The Learning Hub adheres to the guidelines approved by the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD), ensuring a comprehensive and high-quality educational experience for our young learners.

Learner-centered

We embrace child-centered learning and teaching approaches, placing the child at the center of the learning process. Our curriculum emphasizes the development of core competencies, national values, and relevant contemporary issues. Each child is given age-appropriate tasks within specific activity areas, promoting the acquisition of expected competencies while considering individual differences and abilities.

Learning Environment

We are committed to providing an enriching learning environment, and our pre-primary schools are equipped with appropriate play, learning, and teaching materials. We encourage children to explore their environment through hands-on activities, allowing for active engagement and manipulation of materials.

Teaching Methods

At The Learning Hub, we believe in developmentally appropriate learning and teaching methods tailored to cater to the unique needs of each child. We prioritize a supportive and inclusive environment, where children are not subjected to repetition or formal written examinations, interviews, or tests for transition purposes. Instead, we use a National Competence-Based Assessment Tool, approved by the authorities, to assess children’s abilities and progress, enabling us to provide individualized planning and support.

Play-based learning

Play is an integral part of all learning activities, and our daily routine incorporates free choice, toileting, health checks, designated learning activity areas, two mid-morning breaks, and a lunch break. This ensures a structured yet flexible schedule that promotes holistic development and well-being.

Learning Areas

The Pre-Primary curriculum at The Learning Hub is organized into five activity learning areas: Language activities, Mathematical activities, Environmental activities (including Social, Science, Life skills, Health, and Nutrition), Psychomotor and Creative activities (such as Physical & Outdoor, Music & Movement, Creative Art), and Religious Education & Moral activities (including CRE/HRE/IRE & PPI). With a total of 25 lessons per week, each lasting 30 minutes, our curriculum provides a balanced and comprehensive learning experience.

Finally...

At The Learning Hub, we are committed to delivering a curriculum that fosters a love for learning, encourages curiosity, and nurtures the holistic growth of our pre-primary learners.
